Bears Roll Past Eagles on Monday Night - The Chicago Bears beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-7, with third-string quarterback Case Keenum stepping in after injuries to Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent. Keenum threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns and added a rushing score. Chicago's defense forced three turnovers, including a key interception of Jalen Hurts in the third quarter. Philadelphia managed only seven yards on its first three third-quarter possessions and committed 10 penalties. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.
Arizona State Players Challenge Account of Hockey Workout - Seven Arizona State hockey players have challenged the university's account of an August workout that preceded Matthew Mayich's collapse. In an anonymous letter to university president Michael Crow, the players said the outdoor session lasted about 75 minutes and involved military-style conditioning. They also raised concerns about the trainer's response, the lack of a cold-water immersion tub and the qualifications of the workout instructor. The players called for staff changes and an independent investigation. Coach Greg Powers has said he remains qualified to lead the team, while the investigation continues.
Payton Tolle Named Red Sox Wild Card Game 1 Starter - The Boston Red Sox have selected rookie left-hander Payton Tolle to start Game 1 of their American League Wild Card Series against the New York Yankees. Tolle went 9-6 with a 3.03 ERA and 171 strikeouts in 26 starts during the regular season. He also had strong results against New York, allowing one run and four hits while striking out 18 in two starts. Sonny Gray will start Game 2, with Ranger Suárez lined up for a potential Game 3. The Yankees will counter Tolle with right-hander Cam Schlittler.
